Overview

Brooklyn-based videographer and director David Zabriskie needed a website to showcase his motion work. He and I worked together to come up with a concept that felt genuine, yet unique. The website needed to speak to the wide array of films David has worked on while providing a unique experience that differentiated him from other videographers. We came up with the idea of using VHS static to present the website. The static effect would emulate a tv screen that had no signal. However, upon scrolling over the title of each work, the tv screen would immediately change into a “channel”, or one of David’s pieces. In effect, we created a website that nods to the 20th century box television sets that many of us grew up watching.

Hovering one's mouse over each project showcases a "glitch" transition that mimics changing the channel of a retro TV set.
